Project planning, software design or just putting down thoughts.

I am about to start on what is for me a major project.  I didn’t want to get half way through it to realise that my design is too restrictive or too complicated.

I started with some scribbled notes and ended up with a notepad full.  It was getting harder and harder to see the wood for the trees.  I did a search on google and couldn’t find anything to help, having said that I didn’t really know what I was looking for.  On another issue I happened to go to http://sourceforge.net and there was a link for Xmind at the bottom in the review slot.  Having watched the video I was interested.

The software is open source,  Multi-Platform and fairly small (19MB) so I downloaded it and installed.  Within literally 30 seconds I was using it and making great progress.  If you design software or need a piece of software for complex note taking where the notes are linked this is the software for you.  You can download this from http://www.xmind.net/downloads/
